I ended up breaking up with my boyfriend in October and making use of my emergency account so that I could move and buy the items that I did not own. I had to spend about $1,500 to pay for movers, buy items I did not own like dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, a tv, a kitchen table, and all the little basics an apartment needs, and to rent a truck to pick up the bed that my friend was storing in her parents’ basement in a other city and she was willing to give me since she had moved to another country. Luckily, I am now permanent in my job so I was able to move without feeling like I was going to lose my job any second.

I am obviously a cautionary tale, but this is why we have emergency accounts!
