Sure! To the first point, Emily did include that quote about needing to have a friends/family/fanbase that could support 30% of your funding—and, as you noted, having an existing fanbase is often a huge part of crowdfunding success.

With my Patreon, about half of the patrons are people I know, either as family, friends, or fans, and the other half are people I don’t know at all—who I’m guessing are fans I haven’t met in person or on Twitter. That feels like success to me. I did put off the Patreon until I felt like I had a large enough fanbase to make it viable.
